Punjab National Bank hold Indian Oil to a 2-2 draw

 

New Delhi: Punjab National Bank (PNB) held Indian Oil to a 2-2 draw at a league matchup of the 48th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament played here in the Dhyanchand Stadium here on Monday.

 

The match which saw one of the strongest teams in the tournament Indian Oil battling it out with a less fancy side PNB, however started with the latter dominating the initial moments of the match. PNB forced the first penalty corner of the match within 10th minute but lack of good finishing denied them the early glory. Few minutes later, they took made one attempt to score when Arjun Antil set Damandeep up nicely in the circle, but he failed to take advantage of it. However, PNB were awarded at last in the 28th minute when they drew the first blood through Bruno H. Logun .

 

However they could not hold to the lead for a long time as three minutes later Indian Oil equalized through Roshan Minz. After that no further goals were scored in the first half and the teams.

 

After change of ends, Indian Oil started aggressively and got penalty corner in 38th minute and Gurjinder Singh made no mistake and guided the ball into net. Indian Oil got some opportunities but struggled to find a way past PNB’s goalkeeper Sukhjit Singh who produced a string of excellent saves. As when it looked that Oil India would run away with the match, Arjun Antil produced the qualizer to save PNB the blushes.
