New Delhi: Tournament favorites are back to their winning ways as they defeated Central Railways 6-1 in a league stage match up of the 48th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament played here at the Dhyanchand Stadium on Sunday.
ONGC who lost their last match against Bharat Petroleum looked much vindicated in this match and showed a rather dominating attack since the beginning of the match. They created chances early on in the match and kept on pressurizing their opponent’s defence line.
ONGC drew the first blood of the match in the 15th minute when Diwakar Ram converted a penalty corner. They got the second goal of the goal in the 25th minute through Bikash Toppo. Five minutes later, ONGC scored one more goal through Akashdeep Singh to pile up to Railways’ misery.
The score line remained same for the next five minutes as the teams went into the half time with the same score line. After coming out to play in the second half, ONGC maintained the same vigor. They got the fourth goal of the match through Bikash Toppo, in the 43rd minute. This was Toppo’s second goal of the match. After this match three more goals, including a consolation goal by Deepak Lakra of Cental Railways.
