Lovepreet’s brace sinks Western Railways

New Delhi: A brace by Lovepreet of Indian Air Force help them defeat Western Railways 2-1 in a group stage match up of the 40th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament played here at the Dhyan Chand Stadium here on Tuesday. 

 

IAF got off to a good start and started attacking from the word go. They created some good chances initially and got the first goal of the match in the 13th minute through Lovepreet. They played a very composed hockey and did not leave any loose ends. But in the Western Railways earned a penalty and did not let it go waste as it was aptly converted by Sanjib Barla.

 

The team went into the break with a level score line. After the change of ends, IAF maintained the pressure on their opponents and they rewarded soon in the 45th minute when they got the winning goal through Lovepreet.
