Army Boys hold Baba Gurmukh

New Delhi: The Army Boy Sports Company, Bangalore held the formidable Baba Gurmukh Singh Uttam Singh Sr. School, Khadoor Sahib, Taran to a dull goalless draw in the group stage match up of the 40th Junior Nehru Hockey Tournament played here at the Dhyanchand Stadium today. 

In another match played the Satguru Partap Academy, Ludhiana defeated S.S High School, Khunti, Ranchi 5-2. The Satguru boys displayed excellent skills and dominated the proceedings out rightly. They got the first goal of the match in the 17th minute through Gurpreet Singh. They doubled their lead in the 25th minute when Rattan converted a penalty corner.

Both the teams went into the half time with a score line 2-0. After the change of ends, the S.S boys lifted up their game and narrowed the score line in the 50th minute when Subodh converted a penalty corner. However in the next minute, Gurmukh Sing scored again to widen the gap. They scored again in the 53rd and 57th minute. With the scoreboard reading 5-1 and no hopes left for the Ranchi boys, they finally got one consolation goal in the 59th minute, but that hardly made any difference and Gurmukh Singh boys walked away with one more victory.
