Jalandhar: Indian Oil Mumbai thrashed EME, Jalandhar 5-0, while Bharat Petroleum, Mumbai played a draw with Border Security Force 1-1 in the 28th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, here on Monday.
Though Indian Oil took lead through Olypian Deepak Thakur in the 32nd minute, the IOC players were not able to combine well in the first half. However, they came back strong after the lemon break and fully dominated the proceeding in the next 35 minutes. In the 42nd minute of the play, Didar Singh converted a penalty corner, making it (2-0), while Affan Yousuf scored a field goal in the 50th minute to make it 3-0.
In the 66th minute of the play, Deepak Thakur struck once again (4-0) and Inderjit Singh made it 5-0 in the dying minutes of the game. Now Indian Oil will take on Punjab Police on October 12.
In the second match, Bharat Petroleum and Border Security Force locked for a 1-1 draw and shared one point each. Bharat Petroluem took lead in the 30th minute when Gurpreet Singh converted the penalty corner (1-0). However, in 65th minute, Hatinder Singh equalized (1-1) the score to share the points.
