Jalandhar: Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala trounced BSF, Jalandhar (3-1), while Punjab National Bank and Namdhari XI played to a 2-2 draw in the 28th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament here on Sunday.
In Pool B match, Punjab National Bank Delhi and Namdhari XI Sirsa displayed some good hockey, but failed to produce a result. In the very first minute of the play PNB took the lead when Arjun sounded the board from right flank (1-0). Thereafter, Namdhari XI geared up to put pressure on the Bankmen, but failed to equalise. PSB consolidated (2-0) with penalty corner conversion by Jalwinder Singh in the 40th minute. Howver, the Namdharis were not to give up and bounced back with a goal from Harmeet Singh in the 57th minute. Two minutes later, Manjinder Singh scored the equalizer through a field goal. Both teams ended with one point each.
Meanwhile, in a Pool C match, Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala grounded Border Security Force, Jalandhar by 3-1. In the first half of the game, both teams were locked at 0-0. In the second half, both teams geared up to play some fast hockey and in the 42d minute of the game, the Securitymen took the lead through Mandeep Singh, making it (1-0). But thereafter the RCF boys pulled up their socks and leveled the score through a penalty corner conversion by Simrandeep Singh in the 48th minute. In the 55th minute, RDF went ahead of the Securitymen as Gagandeep Singh netted the ball, making it (2-1). RDF consolidated their lead in the 61st minute when Deepak completed scored a field goal (3-1).
