Chandigarh: YP Vohra, founder Secretary General Chandigarh Olympic Association and former General Secretary Hockey Chandigarh succumbed to Covid-19 at Panchckula on Friday morning.
He was a former national level hockey player and later a first class hockey umpire. He was amongst the probable’s for the 1956 Olympic Team. He was the contemporary of Late Balbir Singh Sr., Dharam Singh and Bakshish Singh. He had been running the all India Gurmeet Memorial Hockey Tournament after the death of his elder brother SN Vohra. He is the grandfather of Manan Vohra, presently captain of Chandigarh State Cricket Team. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
He dedicated his entire life to his 'first love'- Sports-hockey in particular. Able administrator for 25 years, he was a man of principal and a rare combination of integrity, simplicity who carried along everybody.
