National Men's C'ship: Haryana in quarters

hockeyBangalore: Defending champions Haryana have advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2nd Hockey India Senior National Championships after they drew 2-2- with Maharashtra here yesterday.

National team players Bharat Chikkara and Sardar Singh scored for Haryana while Narad Bahadur and Irshad Mirza found the nets for Maharashtra.

Pool A: Haryana 2 drew with Maharashtra 2; Bhopal 6 bt Pondicherry 2

In another match, hosts Karnataka had it easy as they decimated Mizoram 21-0 in a Pool B matchup while Services thrashed Jammu and Kashmir 18-0.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh, also from Pool C, have been disqualified from the tournament after four of their players created nuisance in inebriated condition around midnight on Monday.
