New Delhi: Hockey fans of India can breathe a sigh of relief as the government of India is working with Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) and Hockey India (HI) and is trying to bring up a settlement between the two governing bodies of hockey in India, Sports Minister Ajay Maken informed the Lok Sabha.
Maken said that in the view of interim orders from the Supreme Court and after a series of meeting between the two governing bodies, IHF and HI on July 25, 200 came to a settlement. But, the opposition from IOA and IHF the settlement was not implemented.
Maken added that several meeting were held in Sept. and Oct. last year. Maken said that the government has spent around 16.36 crores for the promotion of hockey during the current financial year (upto November 2011). The money was spent on various aspects to develop the game.
