Guyana Amazon Warriors won their first Women’s Caribbean Premier League title, beating Trinbago Knight Riders by two wickets in the final at the Kensington Oval. Chedean Nation’s unbeaten 39 off 21 balls turned the chase around.

Nation, who is 39, walked in at number eight with the Warriors on 71 for 6 in the 13th over, needing 74 off 46 balls to reach 145. She hit four sixes in what was only her second appearance of the season.

Nation and Tryon turn the chase

Captain Chloe Tryon joined her and the pair added 40 off 23 balls before Tryon, on 32, was bowled by Laura Harris in the 17th over. Sheneta Grimmond fell for 10 in the 19th, leaving the Warriors 16 short with nine balls left.

Nation kept her composure against seamer Shikha Pandey and off-spinner Karishma Ramharack and took the Warriors home on 149 for 8 with three balls to spare.

The chase had looked in trouble early. Tazmin Brits (22) and Shemaine Campbelle (9) were among the first five batters out before the 10-over mark. Knight Riders captain Deandra Dottin, Ramharack and Pandey took two wickets each.

Sushma Verma top-scores on debut

Dottin won the toss and chose to bat. Debutant Sushma Verma top-scored with 39, and Marizanne Kapp and Pandey gave the innings a late lift to reach 145 for 6.

Shabnim Ismail took two wickets for the Warriors, while Shamilia Connell claimed 1 for 18 in an economical four-over spell.

It was the Warriors’ third final, after appearances in 2023 and 2025, and this time they finished the job.
