Saturday was the last day of competition, and India won five gold medals on it. Trap shooter Neeru Dhanda will carry the Tricolour at the ceremony.

Harmanpreet scores twice as India keep men’s hockey title

India beat Malaysia 5-1 in the final to win men’s hockey gold and a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored twice from penalty corners. Odisha announces Rs 11 lakh for each gold-winning women’s hockey player

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced Rs 11 lakh for each player in India’s women’s hockey team and Rs 5.5 lakh for each member of the support staff. Salima Tete’s side beat China 1-0 in Friday’s final, with Lalremsiami scoring in the 10th minute. Hope’s unbeaten 162 wins final ODI for West Indies

Aman Sehrawat won gold in men’s freestyle 57kg, beating North Korea’s world champion Chong Song Han 11-7 in the final. The 23-year-old won bronze at the last Asian Games in Hangzhou. Antim Panghal won silver in women’s 53kg. Deepak Punia took bronze in men’s 97kg by beating Mongolia’s Gankhuyag Ganbaatar. A day earlier, Sujeet Kalkal won gold at 65kg.

Pranavi Urs is first Indian woman golfer to win Asian Games gold

Pranavi Urs, 23, from Mysuru, won the women’s individual golf gold. She finished 15 under par on 265, one shot clear of the field. She made a triple bogey on the third hole of her last round but still finished it at level-par 70. It is India’s first golf gold since Shiv Kapur in 2002. With Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar, she also won team silver.

Kumkum Mohod wins recurve gold in a shoot-off

Kumkum Mohod is the first Indian woman to win an individual recurve medal at the Asian Games, and it was gold. Her final against South Korea’s Oh Yejin finished 5-5. Kumkum then won the shoot-off with a 10 to Oh’s 8. The win also gives her a quota place for LA 2028. In the men’s event, Neeraj Chauhan beat Dhiraj Bommadevara 6-4 for bronze.

Brazil beat India 4-0 in a friendly at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday. Estêvão scored first in the 28th minute, and Pedro added a second before half-time. Chahal retires from first-class cricket

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has retired from first-class cricket. His last red-ball match was for Northamptonshire against Middlesex at Lord’s. He took 148 wickets in 49 first-class matches at an average of 32.27, with six five-wicket hauls. Chahal never got a Test cap, but he says he still wants to play white-ball cricket for India. He last played for India in August 2023.
