The much awaited match between the Indian Dream team and World Superstar XI which is to be played at the Salt Lake Stadium on Jan. 23 has been postponed, reports the Hindu. The reason for delaying the match has not been clarified by the organizers.
After Ram Singh Yadav’s stupendous performance in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2012, which helped him to qualify for the London Olympics, the newspapers were full with the stories about him. Hindu reported that Yadav practiced for the race at a high-altitude training centre in Coonoor, Ooty. The Indian Express reported that Yadav was running for himself and not for his country after the way he has been treated over the years by the administrators.
Hindu reported that the Indian players will find it tough in the ITF juniors grade ‘II' tennis tournament against the players from Egypt, Chinese Taipei, Russia, Thailand, Japan, Croatia and Ukraine. Some of the top juniors like Arjun Kadhe, Ratnika Batra and others are getting ready for the upcoming Australian Open and the second-string Indians have a tough challenge ahead in the tournament starting from Monday.
Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has come out in support for the senior players. TOI reported. Dhoni said that the senior players will go ultimately but we cannot rush into any decision. He said that people should recognize their contribution in the game and the experience they can share with the youngsters. Dhoni said that the senior players should be included in the discussion about their future as they deserve it.
BCCI president N. Srinivasan came out in defense for the Indian cricket team. He gave the excuse which no Indian will like to hear, he said that when Australia will come to India we are going to beat them. Not focusing on the problems that the Indians are facing overseas, Srinivasan said that after getting beaten by the English team we outplayed them when they came to our own backyard, reports Hindustan Times.
