New Delhi: The Union Minister of State for Tourism and the president of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), Sultan Ahmed, gave a warm reception to the Indian paralympic team here on Wednesday, on its return after winning 19 medals, including four golds, in the IWAS World Games in Sharjah.
The track and field athletes were the most successful, with three golds coming through Sandeep Singh (200 and 400m) and Amit Kumar (discus). The other gold medal was won by swimmer Raghavendra Anvekar who also captured three silver and a bronze.
Prasanta Karmakar, who had won medals in the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, returned with three medals including a silver in the 200m indivdiual medley.
There was also a silver by powerlifter Farman Basha.
