Snehadevi Reddy in semifinals

New Delhi: Diminutive Snehadevi Reddy outplayed Sri Vaishnavi Peddi Reddy 6-1, 7-5 in the girls' quarterfinals of the ITF Grade-4 juniors' tennis tournament here on Wednesday.

After racing away with the first set in about 30 minutes, Snehadevi made it 3-0 in the second before Vaishnavi showed fight, winning the next four games. However, she was far too erratic to sustain the change of momentum for long, and managed only one point in her last two service games.

Snehadevi made light of getting broken while serving for the match in the 10th game, and closed out with ease in the 12th.

Snehadevi will be up against the top-seeded Rutuja Bhosale who came through a tough three-setter against Mahitha Dadi Reddy. The latter had to grapple with a painful shoulder and thus was not able to stretch the Asian junior champion any further after taking the first set.
