Bangalore: In the middle of a brilliant run and having looked a cut above the rest so far in this championship, former champion Pankaj Advani came up with another sizzling show en route to topping the six-player Group 'D' with five wins in the IBSF World Snooker Championship at the KSBA hall on Wednesday.
The homeboy's 4-1 demolition of Swiss Pascal Camenzind ensured the top-billing for the 26-year-old in the round of 32 following the reseeding after the round-robin matches. While the group toppers go directly into the round 32, the second and third-placed cueists from each group enter the play-off round of 48.
Besides Advani, Kamal Chawla topped Group 'P' to seal his place in the last 32. Barring greenhorn Lalrina Renthlei, Neeraj Kumar and Balaji Reddy, the other eight Indians in the fray made it to the knockout rounds. Former main tour player Lee Walker did Alok Kumar a huge favour by outclassing Jason Williams 4-0 as the Indian (+1) edged out the Canadian (-2) on frame difference in Group 'E'.
