Chennai: Eight top teams in the men's section and six in the women's, representing the cream of volleyball talent in the country, will feature in the National Club Championship, sponsored by IOB as part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations, at Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, here from November 27 to December 3.
The event, sanctioned by the Volley Federation of India (VFI), has a few firsts. As VFI secretary-general K. Murugan said at a press conference on Wednesday, this will be a moment to cherish for the volleyball fraternity, for a corporate body has come forward to support and organise this major event.
Then again, it will be for the first time that both the men's and women's winners will take home the same prize amount — Rs. 1.5 lakh.
