Bangalore: Despite her controversial absence, on at least three occasions in a span of 30 days, from the national camp when the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) officials conducted surprise visits to the National Institute of Sports in Patiala, an inquiry conducted by the Sports Authority of India has given a clean chit to Manjit Kaur, the only athlete from the CWG and Asian Games gold-winning women's 4x400m squad who was not tested in the recent drive.
According to informed sources, NADA officials went to NIS three times on June 9, June 27 and July 9 to collect the samples but Manjit was absent on each of these days.
The repeated absence of the top runner, who still holds the national record in women's 400m, prompted NADA to ask for a report from the NIS. Consequently, SAI ordered an inquiry and the report prepared by a deputy director claims that the athlete's repeated absence was not intentional.
