“I am ready to have a crack at them,” says Australian keeper Matthew Wade. He is eyeing on the spot in the playing eleven in the Third Test which is going to be played at Old Trafford from August 1. He believes that Aussies can still bounce back and there is hardly doubt about it. But to do that they have to bat out of their skin if they want to be in the hunt of winning this Ashes Series. Aussies have lost their first two tests that were played at Rent Bridge and Lord’s.
Wade was quoted by Deccan Chronicle saying, "I'd love to have an opportunity to have a crack at them (England). We played South Africa in Australia and didn't find many problems scoring 400-500 in an innings," he said.
He admires the effort that English bowlers have put in to rattle the fragile Aussie batting in the first couple of tests and said, "England's bowling has been terrific, real world-class. It's the best I've seen in the 18 months I've been around Test cricket."
Wade was shown the doors after he had a miserable outing in India in Border-Gavaskar Trophy but he doesn’t want those things to be back into the equation especially when team requires a good batsman so desperately.
In his last Test for the national team, Wade scored 0 and 19 against India at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla. His average during the test series in India was an unimpressive 18.13 from six innings - far below his overall Test average of 34.61.)
But that hasn't shattered his confidence at all and he ready to cherish the English conditions as he will play tour match versus Sussex at Hove from Friday.
Meanwhile the reports in Deccan Herald quoted him saying, "Any batsman who goes out and dominates and gets 150 or 200 will have a chance to play in the Test. I'm just excited to have a game of cricket because I've been on the sidelines for a few weeks.”
