Australia have been pinned down by the English batting so far and Jonathan Trott might make it worse for them as he announced, “Australia, it’s my time to join the party.”. Trott has steadied the English innings on couple of occasions but hasn’t been able to convert those decent starts into big ones. He has scored just 106 runs in the four innings and for that he admits that the “mistake lies within.’
Trott was quoted by Daily Mail saying, "I get myself out sometimes, if I am brutally honest. That's something I try to pride myself on not doing. It's frustrating but I feel in the past that I have contributed. Now, other people like Joe Root and Ian Bell have stepped in. Perhaps, it is my turn for the rest of the series."
Consistency is something that Trott is known for but it has been missing from his armoury and that’s why he famished and wants to get some big hundred under his belt in the deciding test match of the series. England has been looking invincible so far and he would love to make some valuable contribution in his team’s victory.
He was quoted by DNA saying, "Generally, when I've get a start and felt pretty good, I want to kick on. On a personal note, it is pretty upsetting because you have done all the hard work and you're feeling pretty good."
Trott has been twice dismissed for duck in this series and has looked somewhat unpredictable. This is in sharp contrast to his performance in the Champions Trophy where he hit 229 from five innings at an average of 57.25. The No. 3 batsman is now hoping to rediscover the same consistency that he displayed in ODI to rub off in the Ashes campaign.
The third Ashes Test starts from August 1 at Old Trafford.
