Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is upbeat about India’s chances of lifting the World Cup in 2015. He believes that the recent success that they have tasted on foreign soil will help the men in blue to defend the 50-over World Cup. The 2015 World Cup will be hosted by Australia and New Zealand and it will start from February 2014.
The schedule for the 2015 ICC World Cup was announced on Tuesday and the opening game of the tournament is going to be played between India and Pakistan at Adelaide on February 15, which is a day-night encounter.
Meanwhile the reports in Hindustan Times quoted Dhoni saying, “I'm keenly looking forward to the tournament and confident that we'll do well. Our recent victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 has provided the team with a lot of confidence and I am sure this experience will help us in our preparations for the World Cup in 2015.”
Pool B of the tournament looks bit tough not just with the likes of India and Pakistan but also with South Africa, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Ireland who are good enough to outplay any side on their day. Meanwhile in Pool A, hosts Australia and New Zealand are along with England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and two qualifier teams.
Dhoni knows that it’s not going to be easy to replicate the success of World Cup 2011 but is looking forward to this glorious event. Indian skipper was quoted by Deccan Chronicle saying, "World Cup is a very special event for every cricketer because it only takes place every four years. Having tasted success in Mumbai in 2011, we'll be working very hard to retain it," he said.
The final of the tournament will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on March 29.
