“People are just jealous of the success of Mahendra Singh Dhoni,” says former Indian batsman Ajay Jadeja, who played a sensible knock of 37 runs to guide Haryana to a 62-run victory against Hyderabad in Chennai. He also acknowledged the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Shikhar Dhawan, who has played a key role in back to back series win and that too in away series.
Jadeja didn’t mind saying that there are some people who are jealous of the success of MSD but he regards him as a Captain who relies more on a cool and calm temperament.
He was quoted by The New Indian Express saying, "What I like most about Dhoni is his temperament. He never gets rattled and is always cool and composed. People who doubt his cricketing acumen are jealous of his success. By instinct alone you cannot win so many tournaments. People who are jealous of his success keep talking like that.”
Meanwhile he also praised the young guns in Dhawan and Jadeja who have rocked the international cricket with their dazzling performances in the past six months or so.
Jadeja was quoted by Times of India saying, "When you have a player who plays like (Virender) Sehwag, what else do you want? Openers play an important role in a team's success. When you have a solid opening pair it is half the job done.”
"He (Ravindra Jadeja) has been the biggest plus for the team and played a role in the team's success," he said.
Jadeja played a great hand in Haryana’s victory with his brilliant partnership of 75 runs with Sunny Singh for the fourth wicket. It was almost after six years that Jadeja was seen putting up his pads on for any kind of competitive cricket. Last time he made his appearance was in 2007 at Hong Kong International Sixes. His last Ranji game came against Bengal in January 2007. Though, he doesn’t see this knock to be a come-back because actually he never quit the game.
Former Indian middle-order batsman was quoted by The Indian Express saying, "I read somewhere that I am making a comeback. When did I quit to make a comeback? I have been playing for the last 25 years. I wanted to have some fun and spend time with the kids and that's why I am playing here. I thoroughly enjoyed my stint in the middle.”
