I should have played a little more attacking game against Saina, says Sindhu

PV Sindhu was bogged down by negative thoughts during her clash with Saina Nehwal on Thursday which ultimately led her to defeat. She started off well in the first set but it was her defensive approach in the second set which led her to the downfall as Saina went onto win by 21-19, 21-8.

Though taking this as a learning curve she is looking forward to repeat her mistakes in the upcoming matches. Sindhu was quoted by The Hindu saying, "I would not repeat this mistake again. Initially it was okay but Saina started attacking while it was 14-14. In the second game I became a bit negative and also got defensive. I think I should have played a little more faster and attacking game. I was thinking aloud and made some judgement errors. She is a senior player and played very well."

Sindhu also managed to break into the Top 10 after her recent medal-winning performance at World Badminton Championship and is quite happy with this achievement. She was quoted by Indian Express saying, "I didn't think I would get a medal but it is a fantastic feeling. Beating two Chinese was really great. All in all, I am very happy. My teammates really supported me. I thought by the end of this year, I would break into top 10 but I have already done it, so now I haven't yet set a new goal."

Meanwhile Saina Nehwal was happy with her performance and seeks that Sindhu has lot to offer to Indian badminton. She got a great support from the crowd throughout the day irrespective of whether she was competing or not and was happy to see such zeal that was offered to her.

Saina was quoted by Hindustan Times saying, "Sindhu gave me a tough time in the beginning of the match but the cheer from the crowd really helped me in giving my best and I hope I can continue to live up to their expectations and that of my team. The way Sindhu plays, I’m sure she has a bright future ahead."
