England captain Alastair Cook doesn’t care much about the opposition that will play his team in the ICC Champions Trophy semi-final on June 19th at Oval. As per the reports, it has been confirmed that South Africa will go head to head against the English team after finishing at top of the tables in Group A.
Cook was quoted by Indian Express saying, "We don't mind who we play. We are just glad we are in there. We look forward to the semi-final against whoever that might be.” It was a very lucky day for Cook, who scored 64 runs in the match against New Zealand, as he was dropped thrice by Nathan McCullum.
Left-handed batsman added, "It was great to get the opportunity to keep it in our hands today, particularly with the rain about. We got a competitive total in the end and I thought we bowled pretty well...24 overs, it is a nerve-wracking time for a captain."
Meanwhile the report in Hindustan Times quoted Brendon McCullum saying, "The ball kept following Nathan though he's a brilliant fielder but today the story was all different. He dropped Cook thrice before getting him out on his own bowling.”
Both the Captains took the no-ball decision in a very sporty way and made it clear that there is hardly any point in pondering over that stuff. English captain was quoted by DNA saying, "Broady said it might be close. I did not realise it was quite that close," said Cook. "I think on those decisions you have to go with the umpire's call on the field. If he (Tucker), had given it as a no-ball I don't think we could have had many complaints."
Whereas the Kiwi Skipper was quoted saying, "It was close, but I didn't have problems with the benefit of the doubt to the bowler. It's testament to the way Kane and Corey played that we got as close as we did. For a little while, I thought they were going to get it done."
