Sorcerer of Spin bowling, Saeed Ajmal, believes that Pakistan team will bounce back strongly after their shameful performance in the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
Pakistani off-spinner was quoted by Times of India saying, "Don't write us off. We know people are very disappointed with our performance in England but we will make amends by performing better in the coming series.”
Thing that surprised every cricketing fan and player in this three back-to-back defeats was the fragile batting line-up as neither of the batsmen, except Misbah-ul-Haq, put up a fight against the opposition bowlers. To add fuel to the fire was their inability to bat throughout the 50 overs which was simply unacceptable.
Ajmal was quoted by The Hindu saying, "The players were disheartened and upset with what happened. We let down our supporters in England. But the team's future is not bleak and we are capable of performing much better in the upcoming series."
"It's not that the team didn't try. Every player gave his best to lift the side. The conditions were very difficult and unfortunately we just didn't click as a unit. On the other hand, the teams that adapted well achieved good results in the tournament. We will learn from our mistakes and bounce back quickly," he added.
He concluded by throwing some light on the tour to West Indies which is not going to be an easy task, especially after the recent performances at international level. "West Indies have a good one day squad with some top players. I am looking forward to bowling to their quality players like Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels," he said.
