Windies have all the fire-power to lift the Tri-nation Cup

“Windies have all the fire-power to lift the Tri-nation Cup,” says the West Indies coach Ottis Gibson. He believes that the series, which is going to start from Friday, has a lot to offer to the home side as they know the conditions very well and the advantage of big guns in middle-order will surely help them.

West Indies team had a full length training session which has given their coach a sense of relief and to keep them in good shape another practice session will be conducted on Thursday. West Indies will go head to head with Sri Lanka on Friday at Kingston Oval. Winners of Champions Trophy 2013, India are the third side in this competition, which will have seven matches in the span of couple of weeks.

Gibson has played a vital role in shaping the team for over three years and is upbeat about the chances of Windies clinching the trophy.

He was quoted by Indian Express saying, "We were a bit unfortunate with what happened in England. I think we were starting to shape up to do well in that tournament... it's just to kick on from there. It's to put those little mistakes that we made in England, put them away. We felt we had a good opportunity to win that tournament and we want to win this one and prove ourselves right".

Gibson has made it quite clear that Champions Trophy 2013 and tri-nation are a different ball game altogether and pressed on the fact that side’s improvement at a constant rate will make them look an outstanding team in this tournament.

Gibson was quoted by The Hindu saying, "It is good to be back home and it is the first time we are playing a tri-nation tournament in quite a while, so we are looking for positive results and we are looking to win it. There's more balance in the side and we are starting to believe a lot more that we can be the team that we want to be. We are starting to show the application and hopefully we will continue to show that development and progress."
