The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked MV Sridhar, the manager of the Indian team playing the tri-series in the West Indies, to submit a report on the on-field spat between Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina during the game against the hosts in Port of Spain on Friday, says a report in The Indian Express.
BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel confirmed to The Indian Express that the Indian board called Sridhar after the incident and asked him to inquire into the spat and submit a report. "I have spoken to the manager of the Indian team and have asked him to submit his report on the issue. The BCCI will study the report to get a clearer picture of what happened. We don't want to disturb the team as the series is on, so only after the manager's report is submitted will we take a call on whether any action has to be taken, if at all," Patel said.
On Friday, India's 120-run win over the West Indies was marred by a heated exchange between Jadeja and Raina after the fall of West Indies' ninth wicket, that of Sunil Narine. Narine had been involved in a 58-run stand with Kemar Roach and both batsmen had been dropped earlier by Raina off Jadeja's bowling.
Meanwhile The DNA reports that the BCCI has taken note of the spat between Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina in the recent tri-series. According to reports, Jadeja has been verbally reprimanded. The two were involved in a heated on-field argument over a dropped catch against the West Indies on Friday.
According to media reports, BCCI interim chief Jagmohan Dalmiya said on Monday that they have sought explanation from Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja on the incident of spat during their tri-nation series match against the West Indies.
"We have sought explanation and have also cautioned the team management about it," Dalmiya said.
Meanwhile CAB named former medium pacer Samar Chakraborty for the Lifetime Achievement award which would be given at its annual function on July 20.
