Indian cricketers took to social media to express their joy at lifting the Tri-nation ODI series trophy and praise skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni for steering the team home after a mid-innings collapse. India beat Sri Lanka by one wicket to lift the title with Dhoni being the hero of the triumph after striking a 52-ball 45.
"Had been best 2 months of cricket. Going back with 2 trophies.Thankyou everyone for your love and support," tweeted Shikhar Dhawan, according to a report in Business Standard.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and batsman Suresh Raina also took to Twitter to express their happiness. According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, Jadeja twitted, "Wonderful victory yesterday ..Flying home with Two trophys ,we r champions...... Jai hind.".
"Phew! What a win. Heroic once again by @msdhoni. Coming home with two trophies!!!!," said Raina.
Meanwhile a report in The Indian Express, pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who bagged his maiden Man of the Series award, thanked his fans for supporting him. "Extremely happy for being awarded man of the series for the first time. Thankyou everyone for your love and support," he said.
According to a report in The DNA, Indian team led by Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni has brought the smiles on the faces of millions of Indian fans, including the interim BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya as they pulled out a sensational win in the finals of Tri-Nation series against Sri Lanka at Port of Spain. India managed to chase down the target of 201 in 49.4 overs and it was the Captain Cool who engineered this sensational victory for India by one wicket.
Dalmiya was quoted saying, "Heartiest congratulations to the Indian cricket team for playing like true champions. One anticipates a final to be a close affair but the team's ability to perform under pressure deserves admiration."
MSD remained unbeaten on 45 and earlier it was the brilliant half-century of Rohit Sharma which allowed India to lift this tri-nation cup at the Queen's Park Oval. With this emphatic win, India has stamped their authority in the 50-over format.
