I am trying to focus on self belief and confidence: Unmukt Chand

Captain of Under-19 World Cup winning team has taken a leaf from the book of legendary West Indian Sir Vivian Richards, who mentored him during the sixth edition of Indian Premier League under Delhi Daredevils. He talked about that how the batting great made him realize that self-belief and confidence were the key attributes for being a good batsman.


Chand was quoted by The Hindu saying, "I spoke to him (Richards) and he stressed on the importance of self-belief and confidence. I am trying to focus on what he has said. Hope it will help me in the coming season.” Richards is currently the team ambassador of DD.


Unmukt did not have an explosive outing in IPL-6 but his focus is now on the upcoming Asian Cricket Council Emerging tournament, to be held in Singapore from August 17-25. Chand is not looking to rush into the things and is looking forward to make his way to the Indian squad in few years.


Right-handed batsman was quoted by Hindustan Times saying, "I am trying to concentrate on the upcoming tournament. I am going step by step and not thinking about my chances of making the senior team."


The matches will be played at Kallang Cricket Ground and Singapore Cricket Ground from August 17-25. India's first match will be against neighbours Pakistan on August 18, after which they will face Nepal on August 20 and Afghanistan on August 22. The final will be played on August 25.


Talking about his upcoming autobiography, Unmukt said it will hit the stands by the end of this year.
