Strict action will be taken against those who found guilty of spot-fixing: Rajeev Shukla

Rajiv Shukla, Chairman of Indian Premier League, has said it loud and clear that a strict action will be taken against those who found guilty of spot-fixing in the current edition of Indian Premier League.

According to the reports in Times of India, Rajiv Shukla was quoted saying, “It came as a shock for all of our committed members and organisers that spot-fixing has spread their roots in IPL.” His reaction came in after the arrests of three players of Rajasthan Royals including Indian pace-man S Sreesanth and two of his Rajasthan Royals teammates - Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila.

Along with these three cricketers, 11 bookies were also arrested on Thursday on the charges of spot-fixing which marked the biggest blot on the IPL since its inception.  Chairman of IPL committee was quoted by Indian Express saying, “We have called an emergency meeting in Chennai which will take the decision of what shall be done in this case so that something of this sort will never happen in future. Any body found guilty in the charges of spot-fixing will not be spared.”

He was quoted by DNA saying, “BCCI's anti-corruption unit, headed by Ravi Sawani, has been asked to investigate the matter and submit its report by Sunday and after that all the decisions will be made. We won’t comprise on any grounds when it comes to the image of IPL and I sincerely thank Delhi Police for bringing such a scandal into the lime light.”
