According to reports in the media, BCCI has appointed a three-member inquiry commission comprising two independent members and one BCCI member to probe the spot fixing scandal in IPL.
“The two independent members are retired Justices T Jayaram Chouta and R Balasubramanian and the board member is secretary Sanjay jagdale,” says a report in The Times Of India.
“The three-member commission will look into the allegations that have been made against BCCI chief's son-in-law, Gurunath Meiyappan, and also into the role of Rajasthan Royals management in the spot fixing scandal,” adds the report.
Earlier, former cricketer, Ravi Shastri, BCCI treasurer, Ajay Shirke, and a retired High Court judge were supposed to form the panel, says a report in The Hindu.
Meanwhile, tainted cricketer Sreesanth has been sent to judicial custody. His police custody has ended today and police were seeking a two-day extension of his custody. However, Delhi Police's plea was rejected. Sreesanth will be sent to Tihar jail till June 4. Court will hear Sreesanth's bail plea on June 4,” says a report in Deccan Chronicle, adding that Ankeet Chavan's bail plea has been dismissed. He has requested for bail as his marriage was scheduled on June 2.
“Earlier, court has extended the custody of actor-cum-bookie, Vindoo Dara Singh till the 31st of May. Police sought the extension of the actor, who functioned as a link between the cricketers and the bookies to probe the nexus between him and umpire, Asad Rauf. Also, police want to investigate the links between Vindoo, Meiyappan and the Chennai based hotelier, Vikram Agarwal more closely,” says a report in The Indian Express.
“Sources say Victor was in touch with both Gurunath Meiyappan and Vindoo Dara Singh. Victor used to make calls to bookies using his wife's phone. Police are looking out for Victor's wife's phone. Gurunath passed vital batting and bowling information about team CSK to Vindoo, reports say,” says the report.
Besides, sources say, Mumbai Police are initiating process to bring Pakistan umpire Asad Rauf to India. Police say they have evidence that Rauf had link with bookies. Rauf was in constant touch with bookie and Vindoo, police say. Bookies gave two sims to Rauf and Vindoo later told Rauf to destroy them, police say.
