Scindia wants Srinivasan to quit as of now; Abdullah says BCCI chief has done nothing wrong

“BCCI chief, N Srinivasan, should quit as of now and if Gurunath Meiyapan is not found guilty, he should resume the presidentship,” says the young congressman and Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association chief Jyotiraditya Scindia. Whereas veteran politician Farooq Abdullah says Srinivasan has done nothing wrong.

As per the recent reports of Times of India, Jyotiraditya was quoted saying, “The way cricket has been sullied because of these scandals it’s just unacceptable. We do need to cleanse the sport in every single meaning of the word. An honourable would have given a resignation immediately rather than waiting for a decision to come out. If Gurunath is not found guilty in the case of spot-fixing then Srinivasan can resume his office.”

Srinivasan might have to leave the Board because first it was, Former Board President I.S. Bindra who demanded Srinivasan’s resignation and now his words are being echoed by the president of Madhya Pradesh Cricket association, Jyotiraditya Scindia which could create pressure on him.

Congressman was quoted by Indian Express saying, “If he and his family members, or rather his son-in-law, is absolved then surely he can come back. But considering the environment that cricket is in today, I do think that if you combine the fact of a conflict of interest and his own family member being involved in an on-going investigation, it is in the fitness of things and more from a spirit point of view and propriety point of view, I do believe that he should step aside."

Scindia was quoted by DNA saying, "There's a committee that's going to be set up that's going to look into this, I don't believe that the nitty-gritty is important at this point of time. I believe propriety is important and, in the sense of propriety, I do believe that he should step down. I do believe he should step down, not only for himself but also for Chennai Super Kings and for the spirit of cricket per se."
