Dhoni has done nothing wrong by ducking the questions on spot-fixing and betting in IPL: Srinivasan

“Mahendra Singh Dhoni has done nothing wrong by ducking the questions on spot-fixing and betting in IPL,” says BCCI chief N Srinivasan on Wednesday. He made it quite clear that it was his decision to impose a gag order on Indian Captain.

BCCI Chief was quoted by Hindustan Times, "Yesterday’s conference was meant for Champions Trophy and not for the Indian premier League. So there wasn't any point in answering the questions related to spot-fixing and betting which are solely related to IPL.”

He went on to add, “Media was looking to make it spicy by getting some reaction from MS Dhoni which he didn’t gave to them. Conference was meant to make good will with media. They can always express themselves but need to be in the guidelines advised by BCCI.”

Srinivasan was quoted by Times of India saying, “It’s an individual choice to remain silent or to speak, we haven’t curbed right to speech of anyone. Our players have to follow code of conduct and that’s what Dhoni did.”

Meanwhile Dhoni was quoted by Indian Express saying, “Youngsters are ready to put their best foot forward in Champions Trophy 2013.”

But he remained taciturn when he was asked about his links with Vindoo Dara Singh.
