In further trouble to BCCI Chief N Srinivasan BCCI secretary, Sanjay Jagdale and Treasurer, Ajay Shirke stepped down from their respective posts on Friday evening.
Current crisis arising out of betting and spot-fixing in IPL needs to be sorted out in a proper manner but with Jagdale stepping down, Srinivasan would be under serious pressure. According to reports in Times of India, Jagdale was quoted saying, “Yes, that's true, I have resigned from the post of honorary secretary of BCCI.” In the wake of the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal, this had been the biggest set-back for BCCI Chief.
He didn’t mention under what circumstances he made such a decision but he was looking absolutely disappointed with the scandal of spot-fixing and betting which has rocked Indian cricket two weeks back. He has also taken his name back from the three-man inquiry committee that was formed to interrogate the franchisee of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
He was quoted by Indian Express saying, "I don't want to comment further but I am deeply hurt by the recent developments in Indian cricket. I thought it's better to get out so that some new faces come in and deal with it in a better way. I can't comment about the resignation letter I have written to the President. I have also resigned from the inquiry committee that was setup for investigating the team owners of CSK and Rajasthan Royals.”
He added, "I can't comment on whether other BCCI members would follow suit and resign. But yes my resignation has not come under the pressure of anyone."
Meanwhile the recent reports of Hindustan Times has ensured that BCCI Chief will be having the night-mares for next couple of days as the five of the BCCI vice-presidents are ready to quit their posts.
Reliable Sources were quoted saying, ”In another shocking development gripping the Indian cricket board the five vice presidents of BCCI are all reportedly set to quit from their posts. The five vice presidents are Arun Jaitley (President, North Zone), Sudhir Dabir (President, Central Zone), Chitrak Mitra (President, East Zone), Niranjan Shah (President, West Zone) and Shivlal Yadav (President, South Zone).”
