BCCI has made it crystal clear that Gurunath Meiyappan was not given any kind of warning by ICC on betting at the start of IPL-6 which he claimed during the probe of Mumbai Police. After this false statement, he had surely dug another pit for himself and also raised the doubt that whatever he has been denying up till now might be a bitter truth.
BCCI Chief Administrative Officer, Ratnakar Shetty, was quoted by Indian Express saying, "Mr Y P Singh, head of ICC ACSU and Ravi Sawani, BCCI's anti-corruption unit head, were present during the Emergency Working Committee Meeting on May 19 as special invitees. They have not told BCCI anything about this matter.”
He went onto say, "They attended the meeting as official invitees and if they had such things (that ICC had warned Gurunath) they would have told us. So, as far as the BCCI is concerned we have not been informed officially by the ICC about any warning by the world body (to Gurunath).”
As per the reports in Times of India, he was quoted saying, "We didn’t have any clue about this warning and no official of ICC has informed us about this. Moreover, we don't interfere between the private talk of BCCI officials and ICC people.” He has ensured that a meeting will be called off to look a much closer on this scandal and accordingly a strict action will be taken.
"An Emergency Working Committee Meeting of the Board will be held next week but the date and time will be decided tomorrow," he said.
Earlier in the day, pressure mounted on BCCI chief and Gurunath's father-in-law N Srinivasan with three top BCCI officials reportedly asking him to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the current crisis.
