Gentleman’s approach in the game has hit the rock bottom in Indian Cricket: Erapalli Prasanna

“Gentleman’s approach in the game has hit the rock bottom,” says the spin wizard of his era, Erapalli Prasanna. He slammed the meeting that was conducted by the BCCI Chief, N Srinivasan on Sunday to make a “fair” decision of stepping aside from his presidency.

Prasanna was quoted by DNA saying, "The only thing I can say is that Pandora Box has been opened with this “fair” decision of stepping aside. It is a simple step of manoeuvring and sham. It was expected that Board chief N Srinivasan would resign but it did not happen. He has 'stepped aside' and I don't know what will be his powers now.”

He added in his early context that, "If this was the case then why did they deliberate so long. They could have done it before. I guess (Jagmohan) Dalmiya has only three month time and I don't think that despite being a former president he can set the things in right direction in such a short span of time.”

He was quoted by Times of India saying, “Money is ruling the cricket and it’s quite visible after this back to back controversy regarding spot-fixing and betting which not only has tarnished the image of cricket in India, but also has rocked the whole cricketing world. But that’s not going to heart the cricketing fans that much as it was quite clear in the last week of IPL.”

Legendary spinner was quoted by Indian Express saying, "Cricket has always been a game of uncertainties and when we see that it is money which is ruling the game, it really hurts. During our times if a batsman was out but umpire was in dilemma, the batsman himself used to walk out. That was called a gentleman's game but now nobody is bothered.”

He was looking very much in favour of IPL T20 and was quoted by The Hindu saying, "I don't think that IPL is not giving anything to Indian cricket. Fielding standards of our players have gone higher. This league gives platform to youngsters to showcase their skills. It is good for cricket."
