BCCI’s Interim President, Jagmohan Dalmiya, has made it quite clear that,” I am here to serve Cricket rather than to be in power.” He wants to clean up the mess that has dented the reputation of Indian Cricket as well as BCCI.
He was quoted by Times of India saying, “Good of cricket is of primary importance for me. As far as I am concerned, if I can serve cricket, it is enough for me. I do not have any wishful thinking." He has been appointed as interim president to look after the matters which were under the scrutiny of the BCCI Chief, N Srinivasan, who stepped down on Sunday.
Dalmiya was quoted by Indian Express saying, "Powers have been given that I will be acting as a President. But as far as I am concerned, I am not so much bothered about what position they (BCCI board members) are giving but at the same time, it has come out that I will be given adequate powers to look into matters.”
He added, "I do not subscribe to it. It is wishful thinking. Only time will show what it (Dalmiya's appointment and powers) is about. The idea of Sunday's meeting was not to bring in any kind of sham. I think it (claim to the contrary) is too hard."
BCCI’s acting president scratched away the remark that was made by IS Bindra after the metting of Working Committee on Sunday. He was quoted by The Hindu saying, "First, he (Bindra) never said (asked for Srinivasan's resignation) in the meeting, at least I never heard. And as far as Bindra is concerned, he may have his own opinion."
He went on to say, “In my point of view Srinivasan has done anything wrong and that’s why if his son-in-law is cleared of all the charges that were made against him. He can surely join the BCCI, once this matter is done and dusted.”
