Players’ axing: It was a much needed action and it came at a right time, says James Pattinson

The Australian team has been in news for not so good reasons from the past few days because of the disciplinary action taken against their four players, including their vice-captain Shane Watson. Australian Coach Mickey Arthur had already made it clear that such sort of behaviour will not be tolerated in near future and this decision is very much correct.

According to the recent reports of The Hindu Australian pace-bowler James Pattinson has cleared the air by saying that, “Chapter is closed and we are having a bigger task to focus on and I just hope we will come good.”

He went on to saying that, “Initially we were also surprised, but later we realized whatever happened has because of certain reason not just because of a presentation. There was much more to that but now it has been done and dusted,” confessed the Aussie spear-head.

As per the reports of Deccan Chronicle, he was quoted saying that, “It’s been taken into wrong context. It’s more than just a presentation, like being late for something sometimes. You can give fines for that, but that’s only so much. It was a much needed action and it came at a right time. We were asked to correct our mistakes and to see where we went wrong and what can be in third test to avoid results of first two tests. It’s good to see that people are taking it in a right manner.”

He went on to add, “A reality check was very much needed and if someone does something wrong then he should be punished for that. Half-measures won’t take you anywhere so I do think it was a right decision. It’s been a great learning experience for me just like tasting a bitter medicine for better recovery.”

According to the reports of Times of India, Pattinson was all praises for his Captain Michael Clarke, “He thinks for team and teammates first which shows the greatness of him. His approach is very crystal clear and that’s why the whole team has a lot of respect for him.”

He carried on and added that, “His consistent performance has been the reason of Australia’s success at home and he leads his team by example which is very clear as he has scored 268 runs in this series with a an average of 67. He is leading the team in a right direction as most of our players are inexperienced and these alien conditions are also not contributing any way possible.”

He gave Indian team credit of playing good cricket in the first two test of the four-match series, and added, “Indian batsman had come up with a water-tight defence, which an alarming sign, as it ensures they are trying to make it big for their side. Indian spinners have bowled brilliantly to avoid Australia to post a big total on a score board.”
