Mahendra Singh Dhoni kept his cool and ensured that India will complete the hat-trick of Test wins on home soil for the first time against Aussies. Indian team won the match by six-wickets and also ensured that Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be lifted by them this time. Dhoni did feel that they were under a "bit of pressure" despite chasing a small total at PCA Stadium.
According to the reports of Deccan Chronicle, Indian Captain MS Dhoni was quoted saying that, "With one batsman short and out-of-form lower order was a big worry but I am very happy with the result."
Dhoni went on to add that, “Match got really close towards the end and I was in no mood to take the unnecessary risk and put the Team in to some sorts of trouble while chasing a low score. It would have been better that a set batsman should keep a price on his wicket at such a wobbly situation.”
After bowling out Australia for 223 in their second innings, India chased down the target of 133 with 15 balls remaining before close of play in a match. India's win gave India a unbeaten lead of 3-0 in the four-match series. India earlier won both their matches at Chennai and Hyderabad.
As per the reports in The Times of India he was quoted saying, “It was by far the best wicket to bat on. It’s just a matter of quickly you get settled on the pitch and once you are settled then it’s not that a tough ask to apply yourself on such a track.”
Dhoni smashed three back to back boundaries to seal the fate of the match and gave Indian fans a reason to celebrate.
Dhoni said, "It was a tough to bowl on the first day because pace and bounce was not enough and we were not able to create the much needed pressure on the Aussie openers which took away the first session from us but the second session got us back in the game as ball started turning a bit and spinners did justice to it.”
"The same thing happened with us too while batting (when Australia fought back with a few wickets after the huge 283-run opening partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay)," he added.
According to the reports in Indian Express, Indian Captain was all praises for debutant Shikhar Dhawan who put up an impressive show and laid the foundation of Indian win. "Shikhar batted to his strength and kept that positive thing going which make him achieve the feat of fastest centurion on debut. His knock gave us the much needed support in the beginning ofthe innings," Dhoni said.
Dhawan reached the three-figure mark off mere 85 balls, surpassing the previous record held by the West Indian Dwayne Smith.
Another impressive performance of Bhuvneshwar Kumar earned him praises from the Indian captain who went on to say that, "He is a very smart bowler whose strength is swing and he sticks to that only."
As per the reports of DNA, Dhoni had confirmed that, Shikhar Dhawan might not play in thefinal test of the series due to the injury he sustained on his left hand while fielding on the fourth day yesterday.
Dhawan confirmed the news and said that, "I fell on my knuckles when I dived." Dhawan was last night seen outside the Fortis Hospital in Chandigarh with two bandages. A precautionary x-ray was performed on the 27-year-old batsman that revealed no fracture, but sources claimed doctors had advised the swashbuckling opener not to bat in the second innings.
