Nathan Lyon, who picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in India, was looking very pleased with the effort Australian team had put in and he feels that even chasing anything above 100 will be a huge ask for the Indian batsmen in their second innings.
As per the reports in Times of India, Nathan Lyon was quoted saying, “I am very happy with my performance and I hope tomorrow we will pick up the wickets of tail-enders and restrict them with a slender lead. We put up a strong fight which was missing from the last three Tests.”
Lyon was looking very dangerous on the Kotla wicket as he got a lot of purchase from the pitch which was offering vicious turn and uneven bounce and scalped five Indian batsmen to bring Australia back into the match.
According to the reports of Indian Express, Lyon was quoted saying, "Every wicket is a special one for me and bowling against some good players of spin bowling is always that I wanted to do. I feel that Shane Watson used the bowlers really well and made them bowl in partnership which really worked out well for our team and I hope that our batting clicks tomorrow," he said.
After getting a solid opening start from the openers, India failed to capitalize and lost the eight wickets till the end of the day. Post-tea session was a mixed bag as both the teams got some positive out of it. Australia, on one hand got some wickets and India managed to give them a slender four run lead.
Nathan Lyon was the show-stopper as he bowled a magical spell just before the tea and after the tea to dismiss Sachin Tendulkar and other middle order batsman. The Australian bowlers, led by Lyon (5/94), troubled the Indian batsmen as the hosts finished the day two at 266 for eight in the fourth and final cricket test.
"We need to show some character in our batting so that we can get up to 200-250 which is going to be very difficult on this wicket. India will be under loads of pressure as they are the one who will bat in the fourth innings and I think we have a very good chance of turning the tables this time," Lyon was quoted by DNA.
Meanwhile, The Hindu quoted Lyon saying, “That incident that took place between David Warner and Ravindra Jadeja was on-field and it would be better that we should leave it there.”
