Tendulkar is not performing and I think if I were him, I would go: Ganguly

Legendary Indian captain Sourav Ganguly said that if he was in Sachin Tendulkar's position right now, he would have decided to retire after the Nagpur Test, says a report in the DNA.

"Sachin desperately needs to get runs. He has achieved a lot. He is getting a long rope because of what he has achieved," he said.
"By now he should know how to turn it around. As somebody watching it from outside, Tendulkar is not performing and I think if I were Tendulkar, I would go (retire)," he added.

Ganguly said, “"But it's up to him at the present moment. We want to see the great man going with a bat held high and not in terrible form."

Meanwhile, India Today report says that Ganguly believes that time has come when India should have different captains for Tests and limited over matches to reduce workload on MS Dhoni.

"Every team in the world has gone with split captaincy. I am not saying the selectors should sack Dhoni and say 'you are out'. I have always said there is too much burden on him. I think we are losing M.S. Dhoni as a player," Ganguly said.

"Captaincy and your ability as a player are inter-linked. I think Dhoni is a much better one-day captain than he is a Test captain," he added.
