Flamboyant Indian opener Virender Sehwag who played his 100th Test match in Mumbai will be presented 100 gold coins by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) for reaching the landmark, says a report in The Times of India.
“DDCA vice president Chetan Chauhan had made a proposal in this regard and it was accepted by the Executive Board of the cricket body today. The coins, each one of 10grams, will be presented to Sehwag on January 6, 2013 when India will host arch-rivals Pakistan for a One-day match at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground,” says the report.
"He deserves this honour for his contribution to the Indian cricket," Chauhan was quoted saying.
Meanwhile, the Deccan Herald reports that the DDCA has also decided to name a gate or an enclosure after Sehwag.
“The dashing opener is the ninth Indian cricketer to have played 100 Test matches, having made his debut in 2001 against South Africa,” says the report.
