England middle order batsman Jonathan Trott said that he is looking forward to playing in Mumbai, says a report in The Hindu.
|“When you come to India, you expect (wickets) to turn. We got caught in the first innings, good fightback in the second. I’m looking forward to playing in Mumbai, the heartbeat of Indian cricket,” he said.
On England’s struggle against the spin bowlers, Trott said, “We knew India would be a tough opponent in home conditions. It’s an emphasis of trusting your game and producing results.”
Trott said that England team has got it in them to handle the Indian conditions, “We have players who can do that. We saw it with Cook. He doesn’t play like any of the Indian batsmen, but it works for him. We have players who can do that. There is no reason why we cannot, we have to put it together, put five good days together.”
Meanwhile, The Sun reports that England players are becoming increasingly upset by criticism from legends of the game.
“Obviously they are very passionate and want England to do well but you have got to realise that no one’s perfect. Sometimes people think the game is not as good as when they played or the game’s better now — there’s a lot of discussion. But, at the end of the day, it’s still a game of cricket, 22 yards separates the ball from the batsmen,” Trott said.
“We’ve got to play better, we realise that and we’re not hiding from the fact we didn’t score enough runs in our first innings in the First Test and let India get too many,” he added.
