Amitabh Bachchan and Sunil Gavaskar are close friends and know each other since the 70's and both would spend lot of time together those days including going out shopping, says a report in The Times of India.
"I have known Sunny for many years, no matter which part of the world we are in, we never forget each other's birthdays and this tradition was started by Sunil himself. He is a thorough gentleman," said Amitabh Bachchan.
Abhishek Bachchan who was also present at the event said, “His son Rohan and I have been childhood friends, we were in school together. I am a huge fan and admirer of Sunil uncle.”
Gavaskar narrated an interesting incident that he says will always stay with him. "We went to a store and Amitabh went on a shopping spree. He went on pointing out the clothes he wanted, it was an endless list. And here I was just looking at him...we cricketers would just get one pound allowance per day..." sighed Gavaskar.
Meanwhile, another report in TOI reports that Gavaskar feels that day-night Test matches are very much possible, but factors like, time and venue will have to be hugely considered.
"Sir Don Bradman actually spoke to me in a private conversation way back in 1977-78, suggesting that day-night cricket could be a possibility.
He felt that day-night Test matches were a possible because at that time Kerry Packer had just started out and it was the first year of World Series cricket and there had been some day-night and coloured clothing one-day matches,” he said.
"Of course, the dew factor and all other factors will have to be considered so the venues will have to be chosen and the timing of the Test matches because you might not be able to play in the month of December and January when the dew factor is quite high. It is not just a question of the ball getting wet, it is question of the fielders slipping and injuring themselves. I think those factors will come in. But my feeling is that when they talk about day-night Test cricket it will probably not be cricket that will go on till 10pm as One-Day games go. It will be something that will finish by 8pm. But then I am not in the ICC Cricket Committee anymore so I will not be able to tell you what timings they are considering," Gavaskar added.
