Manoj Tiwary who was very impressive against England XI scoring 93 runs said that he was ready for Test cricket, says a report in The Hindustan Times.
"I am ready for Test cricket. There is a competition for the No. 6 spot, but it's up to the selectors. I will try my best. Let's see what happens," said Tiwary.
There is huge competition for the number six spot, with Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh also fighting for the same spot. Tiwary said that he is happy with his form.
"I am quite happy with my performance, though, I am disappointed for missing out on my hundred. I wanted to stay long on the wicket. I was definitely waiting for an opportunity," said Tiwary.
On the pitch he said, “They are a quality attack but did not try to go all out. The wicket was a bit slow."
On the upcoming four match Test series, Tiwary said, “England have got a big challenge ahead. It's not going to be easy for them against our quality spinners. They are going to face a lot of problems."
Meanwhile, The Hindu reports that India A showed plenty of spunk to end the day with the score at 369 for nine. The batsman of the day for India was Manoj Tiwary who scored 93 runs and hit the ball very well.
The match was also seen as a comeback for the controversial batsman Kevin Pietersen.
“Suresh Raina’s decision to bat first meant Pietersen trooped out with his teammates — under a new captain — onto the field for the first time since he was thrown out of the England Test side after the Headingley Test against South Africa. Pietersen guarded the gully region initially almost till lunch, showing a safe pair of hands to gift Bresnan his first wicket on the tour in Ajinkya Rahane. He also sent down an over of off-breaks just before Alastair Cook took the second new ball,” says the report.
