Australia will test India with short deliveries, say Pat Cummins

With India and Australia all set to lock horns against each other in their Super Eights clash on Friday at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo minds games have already started and according a report in The Hindu is was Pat Cummins who fired the first salvo.

Cummins said that Australia will test India’s ability of playing short pitched delivery.

“A few of them aren’t too fond of the short ball. We will try and rough up a few feathers. You know, (Suresh) Raina and (Gautam) Gambhir and a few of those guys, they are never comfortable with the short ball and we are probably gonna dig in a couple of them. Hopefully that pays off,” the report quoted Cummins as saying.

Talking about India’s spin bowling department, Cummins said: “If we can nullify the key spinners that will go a long way in winning the tie, we have done that before, you know (David) Warner, Watto (Shane Watson) and (Michael) Hussey have been brilliant. It’s like playing any other bowler, it is about turning the strike and one or two good overs and anything is possible.”

Meanwhile a report in The Indian Express quoted Cummins on India last match against England. “Yeah, it’s pretty funny, the other night they probably didn’t go in with their full strength side. So, yeah, I guess you never know what you are going get with them, they have some world class players. Lots of experience, at the IPL, I guess that will work in their favour,

Talking about his team Cummins said, “Our guys have had a lot of experience, have seen a lot of them, and only just recently, in the summer back in Australia. Yeah, we’ll probably go hard at them, show real good intent, Hopefully our study pays off, and we’ll see how it goes.”
