Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni defended out of form paceman Zaheer Khan saying that he is the "Sachin Tendulkar of Indian bowling". Dhoni also indicated a few changes in the team line-up ahead of the England game, says a report in The Indian Express.
"It's easier to go after a bowler when is not doing well. For me, Zaheer is the Sachin Tendulkar of the Indian bowling attack. He has been the leader of the bowling unit for a number of years now," Dhoni said.
“He might not have been so effective in the last few matches but in those situations others need to step up. I believe it's a matter of time for him to get back to form,” Dhoni added.
Indian team have qualified for the Super Eights and Dhoni indicated that some changes could take place in the team.
Dhoni said, "We are looking to make a few changes in the side. Obviously, we only name the playing XI on the day of the match. We ideally want most of our 15 members to get some game time in the middle before we get on with the Super Eights."
Meanwhile, Dhoni also defended the opening pair of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag, says a report in The Hindu.
“We are talking about match-winners, who can on their day take the game away. So you would like to give them a rope so that in the knock-out stages they win a few games for us,” said Dhoni.
Stuart Broad also acknowledge the fact that India has a very strong batting unit, “India has a powerful batting line-up. We know the dangers they offer, they have played a lot of Twenty20 cricket domestically and internationally. One thing I will say, if we play cricket like we did, the way we went about the things, the passion and the energy we showed in the field, we will be in a good position,” he said.
