If you got to win a game than everything has to click together: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma who has been struggling from bad form in the recent past has got off to a good start in the ICC World T20 as he scored 37 and 56 in the two warm-up matches, says a report in The Hindu.

India lost to Pakistan despite putting up a good total, on the pitch Rohit said, “The wicket was very good to bat on and as we saw two 180 plus scores were made. It was a typical Sri Lankan wicket and once you apply yourself, you will get runs here.”

On the Indian openers who have been struggling, he said, “It is very important in any format to get a good start. It is just that I am sure in the coming days they will come good. They are very experienced and it is just a matter of one game.”

On the Indian bowling performance, he said, “Actually it was a warm-up game but we were very focussed and intense and we wanted to win this game. It was just that our bowling didn’t click together and that was frustrating. If you got to win a game, everything has to click together. Our bowlers did a good job in the first game and helped us defend 146, which was not a par score on that pitch. I am sure we will come well as the tournament progresses.”

Meanwhile, The Times of India quoted Rohit Sharma on his own form. “Talking about the past, even that tour was very frustrating but to be fair everyone showed their faith in me. I have worked very hard on my batting, and on my fitness as well, and yes, it is showing,” he said.

“After the Lankan tour I had a 25-day break and made full use of it. I practised at the BKC and at the NCA. Hard work never stops and whether you are in form or not, you have to keep working hard. I will try my best to do what the team needs me to do. In the last T20 against New Zealand I did not get a chance to do much. I wanted to make full use of these warm-up games as it is important to enter a tournament in good form,” he added.
