Sachin Tendulkar began a new innings on Monday by opening his official page on the social networking site Facebook and immediately attracted over 4,60,000 likes by late evening, says a report in The Times Of India.


Informing of his decision to open the FB page to TOI, Tendulkar said, "There are several Facebook sites that carry my name without any interaction with me. So, I decided I would set my own FB page with a catalogue of my entire career to share with fans and an opportunity to finally interact with them."

The page contains a video of Sachin welcoming his fans. There's also a welcome note which says, "As a child, I always dreamt of playing cricket for India and I chased my dream of winning the World Cup for 22 years. It wouldn't have been possible without your support. I wanna take this opportunity to thank all of you for having prayed for me and wish well for me. I look forward to sharing my experience with you, join me on my facebook (page) so that we both can share this experience and go through this journey together."

Meanwhile The DNA reports that cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar on Monday began a new innings by opening his official page on the social networking site Facebook, attracting over 4.4 lakh 'Likes' within hours. Among other details, his phone number is also mentioned on the page and provides a link to www.sachinworld.com.

"I wanna take this opportunity to thank all of you for having prayed for me and wish well for me. I look forward to sharing my experience with you, join me on my facebook (page) so that we both can share this experience and go through this journey together," he added.

Though the Master Blaster has an existing page on Facebook but it is being managed by an agency appointed by him. The sports icon authenticated his joining through a video message posted on his page. The webpage in his name has merged the already existing one with it.

Meanwhile a report in The Economic Times says that Tendulkar has been on another popular social networking Twitter for some time and he has now linked it up with his facebook account.


"Dear friends, welcome to my facebook page. I hope you had the chance to go through it....." he posted on his Twitter account to annouce his foray in Facebook.


Immediately, fans posted comments on Twitter with some reading like "Sachin Tendulkar joins Facebook but makes himself unavailable for immediate comments, saying he wants to spend time with family."


Another Twitter post says "Sachin Tendulkar joins Facebook. Purportedly to monitor son Arjun's online activities".
