Australia post 226 run target for India in Under 19 World Cup Finals

Australia has set India a target of 226 in the finals of Under 19 World Cup final at Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville today.

A report in The Hindustan Times says that Australia recovered well from 38 for four wickets and scored 225 runs at the end of 50 overs

India conceded 42 runs off the last five overs. Australia captain William Bosisto top scored for Australia with an unbeaten 87.

Meanwhile The Hindu writes that Sandeep Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief for India, dismissing four Australian batsmen in his 10 overs that conceded 54 runs and included a couple of maidens.

He removed both the openers — Cameron Bancroft (2) and Jimmy Peirson (0) — in his first spell itself.

However, Bosisto took charge of the proceedings and gradually steadied the ship sharing a 65-run fifth-wicket stand with Travis Head (37) to start with.

After Head’s departure, Bosisto found another able partner in Ashton Turner (43).

Together the duo accelerated the scoring rate and put on 93 runs for the sixth-wicket.
