India-New Zealand Test series is all set to begin from tomorrow and all eyes will be on the pitch in the way it will behave, says a report in The Times of India.
"It will be a balanced wicket. We are using the same wicket on which India played England in an ODI last year", said Chandrasekhar, curator of the pitch.
Indians will be keen to get back to winning ways after their eight straight losses and that reflected in the camp, captain MS Dhoni has been constantly keeping a check on the wicket.
HCA secretary MV Sridhar said that the wicket will play good, “We have chosen this particular wicket as it seems to have a bit more bounce in it. It may not turn too much but the bounce should be a delight for the spinners. I think the close-in fielders will have a lot of work to do as the spinners will be able to make the ball jump.”
Meanwhile, a report in The Indian Express says that even a 2-0 series win for India against New Zealand won’t change their position in the points table. India will get two rating point if they win both the matches but that will not be enough to move India from the number fifth position.
However, if India loses both the matches than the team will slip down to number six in the Test rankings behind Sri Lanka.
